No. You do not need your own AMD hardware, AMD Developer Cloud credits, or Fireworks API credits to take part in a Match. GPU infrastructure is provided through the hackathon notebook environment.
Go to notebooks.amd.com/hackathon and sign in with your AMD Developer Program SSO credentials. Press “Launch Notebook” to start a JupyterLab session on a GPU node, wait for it to become ready, then open it. The first redirected session URL is single-use and short-lived, so each time you return, open a fresh tab and start again from notebooks.amd.com/hackathon instead of bookmarking the redirected URL.
GPU sessions are capped at 3 hours of running time per day, and the quota refreshes every 24 hours. An idle session still consumes your quota because the timer measures how long the pod exists, not how long you are actively typing. When you stop working, press “Turn-off Session” so you do not use quota unnecessarily.
Each user gets around 25 GB of persistent storage. Check the name in your redirected notebook URL before saving: if it contains “jupyter-hack-***”, save persistent files under /persistent — files under /workspace will not survive quota exhaustion or session shutdown. If the URL contains “rgapi-hackathon-***”, save persistent files under /workspace — files stored elsewhere will not persist. Only files within the correct persistent location, up to about 25 GB, survive when the session is turned off or the quota is exhausted.
