AegisRV: A PUF-Rooted Secure Boot and Encrypted UART Communication SoC
AegisRV is a small RISC-V-based System-on-Chip designed to demonstrate how an embedded device can:
Authenticate itself using a hardware-derived identity
Verify firmware before allowing the CPU to run it
Encrypt commands and responses sent over UART
Reject tampered firmware or unauthorized commands
Provide a clean RTL-to-simulation workflow suitable for FPGA or future silicon
The key point is that this is a student-scale security SoC, not a certified production security chip. Real security products require threat modelling, side-channel analysis, formal verification, certified crypto implementations, and extensive silicon validation.
