BobForge — Legacy Code Archaeologist An AI-powered onboarding tool that turns undocumented, legacy codebases into clear, navigable knowledge — in minutes instead of days. Using IBM Bob 2.0's subagents, I dispatch parallel investigations across a repo's modules, each one tracing not just what the code does, but why it was built that way — pulling context from commit history, comments, and code structure. Agent mode then synthesizes these findings into a living onboarding doc and dependency map, giving new developers instant clarity on codebases that would otherwise take days to understand. The goal: prove that Bob 2.0 can meaningfully cut the time and errors baked into one of software's most underrated pain points — onboarding into other people's code.
