Team Idea

ToolFence is a task-scoped security gateway for AI coding agents, built for the IBM Bob 2.0 Hackathon. Instead of giving an agent broad access to repositories, CI, tickets, deployments, and secrets, ToolFence lets Bob propose only the permissions needed for a specific task. A trusted approval boundary remains separate, and every protected action is deterministically allowed or denied before execution. The MVP includes 11 protected capabilities, MCP integration, fail-closed enforcement, audit logging, runtime policy snapshots, a FastAPI observability layer, and a routed React security dashboard. In our benchmark, ToolFence matched 16/16 cases, blocked 100% of forbidden actions, achieved 0% false denials, and reduced active privilege by 45.45%.
