Problem: Modern software development moves fast, but quality assurance remains a major bottleneck. Developers lose hours writing unit tests, analyzing breaking changes across complex codebases, and debugging failing tests during CI/CD cycles. Moreover, relying solely on LLMs for full-repository analysis is expensive, slow, and burns context windows—wasting computational resources and API budgets (Bobcoins). Solution: TEST-ARCHON is an autonomous, multi-agent AI software engineering engine integrated into IBM Bob IDE and GitHub Actions. Built on Hexagonal Architecture, it coordinates three specialized agents to automate the end-to-end QA lifecycle: Impact Agent: Analyzes code modifications to identify affected functions and risk levels. Generator Agent: Automatically creates unit tests targeting edge cases and coverage gaps. Self-Healing Agent: Captures execution stack traces from failing tests, reasons about root causes, and autonomously patches test code until green. Target Users & Interaction: Engineers and DevOps teams interact with TEST-ARCHON via an extension panel inside IBM Bob IDE or a React-based interactive dashboard. Users simply trigger a run on modified files. The system processes changes in real-time, streaming agent reasoning (XAI), coverage impact, and terminal outputs directly to the UI. Uniqueness & Efficiency: What sets TEST-ARCHON apart is its Hybrid Multi-language Isolation Engine. Instead of sending entire files to the LLM, it uses local AST parsing and regex fallbacks (supporting Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, Go, and C#) to extract surgical Git diffs. Only the relevant context is passed to IBM watsonx.ai, reducing token consumption and Bobcoins by over 80%. Additionally, built-in safety guardrails limit healing loops and automatically restore code if tests cannot be safely resolved.
