Problem Statement In high-stakes microservice environments, unoptimized N+1 database query patterns can create severe latency spikes, database connection pool exhaustion, and cascading 504 Gateway Timeouts. Traditional SRE incident response requires engineers to manually trace telemetry, investigate code paths, identify the root cause, implement a fix, and run multiple validation steps. This increases Mean Time to Repair (MTTR). At the same time, blindly deploying AI-generated code can introduce API-breaking changes or security vulnerabilities without proper verification. Solution Overview TelemetryPulse is an autonomous SRE workstation designed to detect, refactor, verify, and stage production hotfixes in under 30 seconds. Powered by IBM Bob 2.0, it connects telemetry monitoring, intelligent code analysis, autonomous refactoring, human approval, sandbox verification, and GitHub automation into one controlled workflow. Stage 1: Detect & Triage — Flask Telemetry Engine TelemetryPulse continuously probes target URLs at three-second intervals, monitoring network latency, HTTP response status, and payload metrics. When a critical performance issue is detected, the system creates an incident such as `INC-504-001` and begins automated investigation. Stage 2: Refactor & Govern — IBM Bob 2.0 IBM Bob 2.0 analyzes the application's Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) and traces the affected code path, such as `orderController.js`. For the demonstrated incident, Bob identifies an N+1 query pattern where 101 orders result in 101 individual database queries. Bob then generates an optimized batched database query while preserving the existing API response contract. Before execution, the proposed code diff and root-cause summary are sent through a human-in-the-loop Slack Approval Gate, ensuring that an SRE explicitly authorizes the remediation. Stage 3: Verify & Stage — BobShell + GitHub After approval, the refactored code is executed inside an isolated BobShell sandbox. TelemetryPulse verifies the change through performance benchmarking, Pytest validation, and Bandit security scanning. The demonstrated remediation reduced execution time from "1,489.1 ms to 28 ms", achieving a "53.2× performance improvement". The verification process achieved "7/7 Pytest assertions passed" and "0 high-severity Bandit vulnerabilities". After successful verification, TelemetryPulse stages the remediation as "GitHub Pull Request #247" on the `fix/orders-n-plus-one` branch and generates an automated incident post-mortem containing the root cause, remediation details, benchmark results, and verification results. Why It Is Creative & Unique TelemetryPulse transforms AI-assisted code generation into a controlled and verifiable SRE remediation pipeline. Instead of simply generating a code patch, IBM Bob 2.0 participates across the complete engineering workflow—from incident investigation and AST-based reasoning to autonomous refactoring and sandbox verification. The combination of live telemetry, IBM Bob 2.0, human approval, BobShell isolation, automated testing, security scanning, and GitHub PR staging creates a practical workflow for turning a production incident into a review-ready code change while keeping humans in control of the final remediation.
