FixFlow – AI Bug-to-Fix Assistant is a developer support tool built to make Python debugging simpler and faster. While working on coding projects, we noticed that a lot of time is spent reading long traceback messages, searching for solutions online, and figuring out which part of the code actually caused the problem. We wanted to build something that makes this process easier, especially for students and beginner developers. The application is built using Python and Streamlit, with a simple interface where users can upload a Python error log (.txt) and optionally upload Python files from their project for better context. Instead of only displaying the error name, FixFlow explains the error in plain English, identifies the most likely root cause, and provides step-by-step suggestions to fix it. It also includes a small example code snippet so users can understand the correct approach more easily. One of the useful features of the project is repository context matching. If the traceback contains a filename that matches an uploaded Python file, FixFlow highlights that connection, making it easier to locate the affected code. The application also estimates the severity of the issue, provides a confidence score for the analysis, estimates the time required to fix the problem, and generates a professional PDF bug report containing all the findings. To keep the project modular and scalable, the analysis logic is separated inside the analyzer folder, allowing future AI-powered improvements without changing the overall structure. The current version uses a rule-based approach to detect common Python errors such as NameError, TypeError, ValueError, IndexError, KeyError, AttributeError, SyntaxError, and ModuleNotFoundError. During the development process, we used GitHub for collaboration and IBM Bob to speed up project setup, improve the interface, organize the codebase, and streamline documentation. Our goal was not to replace developers but to create a tool that helps them understand errors more quickly, learn while fixing them, and reduce the time spent switching between code, documentation, and search results. FixFlow demonstrates how a simple and well-organized debugging assistant can improve the development experience, and it provides a strong foundation for future enhancements such as AI-powered explanations, IDE integration, multi-language support, and cloud deployment.
