I’m a 3rd-year B.Tech Computer Science student interested in full-stack development, AI, and building practical technology solutions. I enjoy learning by working on real-world projects and hackathons, especially where software can solve meaningful problems.

### Problem Statement When developers join an existing software project, understanding an unfamiliar codebase can take hours or even days. They need to identify the project structure, technologies, dependencies, architecture, important files, and suitable areas to start contributing. Traditional documentation is often incomplete, outdated, or difficult to navigate. This creates a steep onboarding curve, especially for students, new developers, interns, and contributors joining unfamiliar repositories. ### Solution Our "AI Developer Onboarding Assistant" transforms an unfamiliar software repository into an interactive onboarding guide. Users provide a repository, and the system analyzes its structure, technologies, dependencies, and key components. It then generates a clear project overview, visual architecture, dependency information, and actionable starter tasks. The platform is designed to ground its explanations in the actual repository rather than relying only on generic AI responses. Analysis can combine repository-derived information, pattern matching, and AI-generated explanations, while clearly indicating the source or analysis mode where available. This helps users understand not only what the project contains, but also why the generated information can be trusted. ### Target Users & Interaction The primary users are software developers, students, interns, open-source contributors, and engineering teams onboarding people into existing projects. A user provides a repository to the platform and starts the analysis. The system processes the codebase and presents the results through an easy-to-navigate dashboard: **Repository → Analysis → Project Overview → Architecture → Dependencies → Starter Tasks → Developer Onboarding** Users can explore the architecture, understand important technologies and dependencies, and identify practical first tasks without manually studying the entire repository. ### Creativity & Uniqueness The key differentiator is that the platform focuses specifically on **developer onboarding through repository intelligence**, rather than being a general-purpose coding chatbot. It combines automated repository analysis with AI-generated explanations and makes the reasoning behind results more transparent through analysis-source indicators and repository evidence where available. The system can also generate starter tasks based on the technologies and structure actually detected in the repository, making onboarding more actionable. ### Impact By converting complex repositories into structured, understandable onboarding information, the solution can reduce the time required to understand unfamiliar projects and help developers move from "I don't understand this codebase" to "I know where to start" faster. The result is a more efficient, transparent, and practical onboarding experience for both individual developers and engineering teams.
