The problem AI tools like Claude and Codex let anyone with an idea build a working app in an afternoon. Then everything stops. Putting it online means servers, SSH, firewalls, HTTPS certificates, build errors and hosting dashboards, and updating it later risks breaking a site that already works. Many "vibecoders" leave finished projects on their laptop because this last mile is built for professional developers. Our solution Bob Deploy is a desktop app that sits between the project folder and the internet. The user picks a folder and a destination: their own server (any cheap Ubuntu VPS) or a free host (Netlify, Vercel). Bob, the AI agent, then takes over: Analyse: Bob reads a copy of the project, works out its stack (static site, Vite, Node, Flask, FastAPI) and explains his conclusion in plain language. Fix: if the build fails, Bob repairs it in a staging copy. Changes reach the user's folder only after a snapshot and a review of the diff, so nothing is lost. Deploy: Bob Deploy connects to the server, creates a locked-down admin user, disables root and password login, enables a firewall and brute-force protection, installs Caddy and publishes the site with a real HTTPS certificate. Update: when the user asks their AI tool for a change, one click ships it. The new version starts beside the old one and only goes live after passing a health check. A broken update never replaces a working site, and rollback is one click. Target users and interaction Students, freelancers, makers and small businesses who can describe what they want to an AI but have never configured a server. Everything happens in a guided interface: a short form, live progress with Bob's messages, and clear questions when a decision is needed. No terminal, no config files. After launch, the app shows health, resource use, visitor analytics and maintenance actions (security updates, disk cleanup). What makes it creative and unique Bob Deploy puts an AI agent in charge of the part that is actually fuzzy (understanding and fixing an unknown project) and keeps everything risky deterministic. Bob never improvises on the server: hardening, firewall, upload and release are fixed, tested scripts, and the admin account can only run those scripts as root. Secrets live in an encrypted local vault and are hidden from logs and from Bob's prompts. Users can still download their server key and take full control. It is AI-assisted deployment that a beginner can trust. How it addresses the problem It has been tested on a real €3.52/month VPS with a fresh Ubuntu 24.04: from "Deploy" to a secured server serving the site over HTTPS took about two minutes, with no manual command. Automated tests against a Docker copy of a real server also verify that a broken release is rolled back while the old version stays online. Bob Deploy turns deployment from the reason projects die on a laptop into one more step of the conversation with your AI. + the option to deploy on free servers/deployment apps like netlify or vercel
