The Problem: Modern software development heavily relies on AI coding agents, yet developers face severe friction due to the transient nature of these interactions. The primary issue is context amnesia. AI agents operate within temporary windows; as a session progresses and new prompts are generated, the AI steadily forgets past memory and critical project context. This causes it to lose track of early architectural decisions, leading to redundant or hallucinated code. Furthermore, modern codebases span hundreds of files, forcing developers to waste massive amounts of time navigating files manually just to feed the correct structural context to their AI tools. Finally, standard version control habits do not align with rapid AI iterations. Software engineers generally commit code to GitHub only after major milestones, not minor adjustments. Consequently, if a developer accidentally accepts a faulty or destructive IDE agent request, they cannot easily track the changes or retrieve their previous state instantly. Reverting a messy, automated multi-file edit becomes a frustrating chore of manual undoing. The Solution: TursiopsTursiops is a project-aware memory, context, and versioning companion built as a VS Code plugin. Sitting directly in the Activity Bar alongside your AI agent, it uses your Gemini API key to bridge the gap between rapid AI code generation and reliable project management. Instead of bloating your public repository history, Tursiops creates a lightweight, highly optimized local repository ecosystem inside a .tursiops/ workspace folder. The primary target users are software developers and engineers using AI assistants who want to maximize coding velocity without losing control over their code states. Users interact with Tursiops seamlessly via an active sidebar. Onboarding is instant thanks to a secure web-to-IDE Deep Link (vscode://) authentication bridge. While coding, developers use natural language in the Navigator to instantly find files, while consulting a Visual Timeline that maps out every prompt and change summary chronologically. What makes Tursiops uniquely creative and efficient is its specialized architecture. It features a "Mini-Git" Change Tracker that acts as a silent observer, auto-saving delta snapshots to a local directory after every single prompt without manual micro-commits. It leverages Smart AI Summaries to transform messy raw diffs into human-readable explanations via Google Gemini. Multi-model resilience is provided by the version 2.2.0 Fallback Engine, to be totally reliable. If the main Gemini API is rate-limited or busy (Error 429/503), Tursiops will silently downswitch an LLM hierarchy to keep the IDE completely fluid.
