The Problem Every day, developers working on open-source projects face the same tedious gauntlet: an issue gets assigned, and what follows is 15–20 manual steps — opening a browser to read the issue thread, cloning or syncing a fork, grepping through an unfamiliar codebase to find the right file, writing the fix, running the test suite, writing a missing test, staging and committing changes, pushing to a branch, and finally opening a pull request with the right description and the magic Closes #N link. Each step is mechanical, context-switching, and error-prone. Experienced contributors do it on autopilot; new contributors get lost. Either way, it's wasted human time. The Solution Solvix is an agentic workflow built on IBM Bob 2.0 that compresses the entire contributor-side lifecycle into a single trigger. Given a repository and an issue number, Solvix handles everything end-to-end — autonomously and correctly. The workflow runs in six chained steps: Understand — reads the issue body and all comments via the GitHub MCP server to build a structured understanding of the bug or feature request. Fork + Clone — forks the target repository under the user's GitHub account and clones it locally, ready for editing. Locate — spawns two parallel subagents simultaneously: one does keyword-based code search, the other traces error paths and call stacks. Both results are merged to pinpoint the exact files and lines that need changing. Fix — Bob's agent mode, now armed with full issue context and precise file locations, implements the code change with surgical accuracy. Verify — two more parallel subagents run: one executes the existing test suite, the other detects missing coverage and writes a new test if needed. Both must pass before proceeding. Commit + Push + PR — commits the fix, pushes to a new branch, and opens a pull request with a properly structured description including Closes #<issue-number>, ready for review. Target Users Solvix is built for open-source contributors, maintainers managing high-volume issue queues, and engineering teams that want to accelerate their triage-to-merge pipeline. It's equally useful for a solo developer fixing bugs in their own project and for an organization processing dozens of community-reported issues per week. How Users Interact With It One command: ./scripts/run_agent.sh --repo owner/repo --issue 42. That's it. Bob streams every step in real time so the user can follow along or intervene at any point. A multi-issue orchestrator is also included for batch processing. What Makes It Unique Most AI coding tools stop at "write some code." Solvix owns the entire workflow — from reading GitHub context to opening a verified, correctly-linked PR. The parallel subagent architecture (two locators, two verifiers running simultaneously) makes it fast. The structured step chain makes it reliable and auditable. And because it runs entirely within IBM Bob 2.0, there's no external orchestration framework, no glue code, no extra infrastructure — just a skill, a prompt chain, and the power of the platform. The result: what used to take 20 minutes of context-switching now takes one command and a coffee break.
