DevOnboard is an IBM Bob 2.0 MCP application that automates developer onboarding. Instead of new hires spending 3–5 days reading docs and pestering senior engineers, DevOnboard scans any repository and automatically: Detects the tech stack and structure (scan-repo) Checks the developer's local environment for missing tools (check-dev-environment) Extracts setup commands from the README/manifests (extract-setup-steps) Identifies code owners via CODEOWNERS and git history (find-code-owners) Generates a personalized ONBOARDING.md plan (generate-onboarding-plan) It ships as a custom Bob "DevOnboard" mode + auto-activating skill + a 5-tool MCP server (TypeScript, 420 lines), cutting onboarding time from ~3–5 days to under 2 hours. Built for the IBM Bob 2.0 Hackathon ("Build with purpose").
