Every year, thousands of patients lose their lives not because medical help was unavailable — but because they couldn't find it fast enough. During a cardiac arrest, stroke, or trauma emergency, the first 10 minutes are critical. Yet most people in emergency situations waste precious time searching the internet for hospitals, calling multiple ambulance services, or asking strangers where the nearest blood bank is. Existing healthcare apps either show static directories, lack real-time availability data, or require too many steps during a crisis when every second counts. Our Solution — SmartCare 360 SmartCare 360 is a full-stack, AI-powered emergency healthcare coordination platform that acts as a real-time command center during medical emergencies. Built on Next.js 14, MongoDB, Socket.io, and Google Gemini AI, it connects patients and families with the right hospitals, ambulances, blood banks, and doctors — ranked by proximity, availability, and suitability — in seconds. Key Capabilities When a user opens SmartCare 360 during an emergency, the platform immediately detects their GPS location and presents four large emergency actions: Emergency Help, Find Hospital, Find Ambulance, and Find Blood. The AI triage wizard guides users through a 5-step process — capturing symptoms, emergency type, severity, and location — and then uses Google Gemini AI with the patient's stored medical context (blood group, allergies, conditions) to perform initial triage, classify urgency as Critical, High, Medium, or Low, and recommend suitable specialist hospitals and nearest ambulances. Hospital and ambulance search results are not randomly ordered. A backend location-ranking engine uses MongoDB 2dsphere geospatial queries combined with Google Maps Distance Matrix API to rank resources by: distance (60%), rating (20%), availability (15%), and review count (5%). Every result shows real data from the database — distance, estimated travel time, beds available, departments, and contact information — with one-tap Google Maps directions. Ambulance tracking is fully real-time using Socket.io WebSockets. When a user requests an ambulance, they see a live status timeline (Requested → Assigned → En Route → Arrived → Picked Up → Completed) that updates instantly without page refreshes. The ambulance GPS pin updates live on the map. The SmartCare AI chat assistant uses Google Gemini with function-calling tools that query the actual MongoDB database. It never invents data. When asked "find nearby hospitals with cardiology," it calls the searchHospitals tool against real records and explains the results. All patient medical data — blood group, allergies, conditions, medications, emergency history — persists in MongoDB across sessions, devices, and browser restarts. The AI automatically retrieves relevant context for each new emergency. Target Users Patients and families during medical emergencies, hospital staff coordinating incoming cases, and healthcare administrators managing resource availability. What Makes It Unique Unlike static hospital directories, SmartCare 360 combines persistent patient memory, real-time WebSocket ambulance tracking, AI-assisted triage with live database tools, location-ranked resource discovery, a full admin panel for resource management, and a 70% visual emergency-first UI — all in a single production-ready platform.
