CodePilot AI is an innovative code audit tool that utilizes AI to facilitate comprehension of the code by the developers. The challenge the product is addressing to developers is the issue of digging into the code, comprehending the context and mechanism, coming up with a corrective action, and proving the code works as intended. This is an issue because for large codebases it might be required to make hundreds of contributions to various files. CodePilot AI offers an interactive experience that revolves around repository exploration and code repair. The repository to be explored has to be provided via a public Github link. After exploration, the application identifies potential issues in code. Each detected problem is presented with location, category, and impact to give an idea of the changes needed. The selected issue is analyzed further using IBM Bob where the AI component is introduced. Bob locates the place of the issue in the source file, suggests a potential repair, and reports on the outcome of the suggested solution. Developers have the opportunity to take a look at the proposed code change in a diff view to decide whether to Approve or Continue. The intended audience for this product is students, developers, development teams, and engineers interacting with codebases or legacy systems.
