Joining a new codebase is often overwhelming. Developers can spend days understanding thousands of files, outdated documentation, hidden conventions, and unfamiliar architecture before they are able to make a meaningful contribution. Day Zero is a personalized developer onboarding assistant that helps developers understand a real GitHub repository and start contributing faster. Users paste any public GitHub repository URL, choose their role such as Frontend, Backend, Full Stack, or DevOps, and select their experience level. Day Zero analyzes the actual codebase and generates a personalized onboarding kit in under 30 seconds. The kit includes an interactive architecture map, a First Hour setup guide, important project gotchas, a recommended first task, and an Ask Anything chat for questions about the codebase. Every insight is grounded in the real repository, including its files, structure, configuration, and source code. What makes Day Zero unique is personalization. The same repository can produce completely different onboarding experiences for a junior frontend developer and a senior backend engineer. Instead of giving everyone the same generic documentation, Day Zero focuses on what each developer actually needs to know. Day Zero is designed for new team members, open source contributors, and engineering teams that want to reduce onboarding time and help developers become productive from day one. The project was built using IBM Bob 2.0 IDE as the core development partner throughout development.
