I’m William Farokhzad, a robotics and automation engineer who turns ideas into practical technology. My work brings together robotics, embedded systems, computer vision and AI, from intelligent sorting prototypes to WIFA VitiTrack, a vitiligo-tracking project inspired by my own experience. I created WIFA Robotics to share what I build and explore how engineering can solve real problems. With an M.Sc. in Industrial Automation Engineering, published research and international innovation awards, I’m especially interested in projects where technology can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

I have lived with vitiligo myself. When I compared photos of my hands, I often wondered: was my skin changing, or was it just the light? That question became the starting point for VitiTrack. VitiTrack helps people keep their skin photos, observations and care history in one place. Patients can upload a photo, mark the area they want to follow, review experimental patch measurements and prepare an editable report for their dermatologist. The aim is to make the time between appointments easier to document and the next conversation more useful. The mobile-friendly prototype includes patient, clinician and public demo views, a timeline, a care diary and research links. On the hosted app, access to saved records is checked on the server, and patients can authorize an enabled clinician to view their information. Fictional profiles and AI-generated images let visitors explore the demo without exposing real patient records. Our planned AI workflow combines Google Gemma running on AMD for visit-summary drafts with Evolus for a reference library and a report preparation workflow. Server-side adapters are implemented; live inference and workflow execution still need verification. VitiTrack supports documentation and human review. Its image measurements are experimental, and it does not diagnose vitiligo, prescribe care or promise recovery. Our goal is simple: help patients bring a clearer record of their experience to the people caring for them.
