The Parser is the foundational entry point of the entire hardware verification software system. When a hardware engineer writes a chip design, they use Hardware Description Languages (HDLs) such as Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL. The parser's primary job is to ingest this raw text code and break it down.It performs two critical functions: Syntax Validation: It checks the code against strict hardware language rules to ensure there are no formatting or grammatical mistakes. AST Generation: It converts the text into a hierarchical, digital map called an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST). This AST represents every logic gate, wire, clock signal, and module flip-flop in a clear layout. By transforming complex code into this clean structural map, the parser enables the next components of your software (like the Rule Engine) to scan for hardware bugs and design flaws without needing AI.
