DevPilot AI solves the problem of understanding unfamiliar GitHub repositories quickly. Developers often spend hours reading files, identifying the project architecture, finding dependencies, understanding setup requirements, and determining where to start. DevPilot AI provides an AI-powered repository onboarding experience that turns a public GitHub repository into a structured and readable report. Users simply provide a GitHub repository URL and DevPilot analyzes the repository structure, identifies important files and technologies, explains the architecture, summarizes dependencies, provides setup guidance, and suggests recommended tasks for developers. The goal is to reduce the time required to understand an unfamiliar codebase and make developer onboarding faster and easier. The application is designed for students, developers, teams, and open-source contributors who frequently work with new repositories. The web interface provides a simple workflow where users submit a repository URL and receive the generated analysis. DevPilot AI combines a modern web frontend with a backend service that communicates with GitHub to retrieve repository information and process it into an onboarding report. The project was developed with IBM Bob as part of the development workflow, using Bob to assist with implementation, debugging, UI refinement, and development tasks.
