Problem: Students and busy professionals are inundated with deadlines, exam dates, meetings, and coursework scattered across emails, chat groups, and learning management systems. While maintaining a structured calendar is essential for success, traditional productivity apps impose significant friction: users must manually navigate date pickers, input times, set tags, and manage rigid interfaces. Proprietary apps also lock user data inside closed ecosystems. Consequently, planners are quickly abandoned, schedules fall out of sync, and critical deadlines are missed. Solution: Excela is an intelligent conversational planning assistant that bridges natural language and spreadsheet productivity by connecting directly to the user’s personal Google Sheets. Instead of requiring manual data entry, Excela enables users to organize, update, and review their schedules simply by speaking or texting in plain language. Excela dynamically parses relative timeframes, detects schedule conflicts, and writes beautifully formatted, color-coded entries directly into a user-owned Google Sheets monthly planner. Target Users: Excela is designed for university students, educators, academic researchers, and productivity-conscious individuals who manage fast-paced schedules and demand full transparency and ownership over their personal data. User Interaction: Users interact with Excela through two synchronized interfaces: Interactive Web Workspace: A web application where users converse with the Excela Smart Agent to plan days, reschedule events (“Move my physics quiz to Friday”), track overdue tasks, and toggle task completion. Telegram Companion Bot (@ExcelaPlannerBot): A mobile-first channel enabling users to manage tasks on the go, check 7-day schedules with /week, receive instant sheet access via /view, and configure automated daily morning/evening briefings with /auto <time> (e.g., /auto 6:30pm). Creativity & Uniqueness: Zero Vendor Lock-in: Unlike standard SaaS calendar tools, Excela uses Google Sheets as its primary source of truth. Users retain 100% ownership of their data and can view, print, or share their live spreadsheet offline or on any device. Autonomous Tool-Calling Agent: Excela features a deterministic tool-use pipeline that understands contextual dates (“next Monday”, “day after tomorrow”), searches event grids, inspects row availability, and visually updates cell states (red for pending, blue for completed). Bring-Your-Own-Model Security: Excela supports client-configured LLM execution with encrypted credentials, giving privacy-conscious users control over their data pipeline. Effectiveness & Efficiency: Excela eliminates manual scheduling overhead down to a single conversational prompt. By pairing instant Google Sheets synchronization with proactive, automated Telegram briefings, it ensures users always know what is due today and tomorrow without opening a single spreadsheet. Excela transforms chaotic notifications into structured, stress-free time management.
