Job Listing Freshness
JobFresh addresses a common problem in online job boards: stale or potentially inactive job postings that remain visible to applicants long after the employer may have stopped actively hiring. Applicants can spend significant time preparing and submitting applications without knowing whether a position is still active, while job-board administrators face increasing manual effort to identify and manage outdated listings. JobFresh introduces a transparent freshness and employer-confirmation workflow. The system evaluates observable signals such as the time since a posting was created, updated, or confirmed by an employer, as well as possible duplicate or repeated postings. Listings are categorized as Recently Confirmed, Confirmation Needed, Potentially Stale, or Possible Duplicate. Applicants interact with a separate job-board interface where they can see the freshness status and when the employer last confirmed the position. Employers can confirm that they are still hiring, update their posting, or close the position. Administrators receive a review queue showing which listings require attention and the specific reasons they were flagged. The solution deliberately does not label postings as “ghost jobs” or make unsupported claims about an employer's intentions. Instead, it makes observable freshness information visible and gives employers a simple mechanism to keep their listings accurate. The creative aspect of JobFresh is its three-sided workflow connecting applicants, employers, and job-board administrators around one source of freshness information. Rather than relying on an opaque AI-generated score, every flag is explainable through stored dates, employer confirmations, and duplicate signals. This makes the system easier to understand, act on, and integrate into an existing job board. JobFresh can reduce wasted applicant effort, improve the quality of active listings, and reduce repetitive manual moderation by turning job freshness into an ongoing workflow rather than a one-time posting action.
