AI Crossover Point speeds up large language model text generation without changing a single word of the output. Normally, a big accurate model writes one word at a time, which is slow. Here, a small 0.5B "draft" model quickly guesses the next few words, and the big 7B model checks all the guesses in one single pass, keeping whichever ones it agrees with. Because the big model always has the final say, the output stays mathematically identical to plain generation — we proved this across 2,520 test runs, with 96.7% byte-identical and zero decoder bugs found. How well this works depends almost entirely on what kind of text is being written — highly structured output (JSON, code, math) is very guessable, free-form prose barely at all — and the best number of words to guess ahead changes constantly, even within one answer. So we built a controller that measures the hit rate live and tunes itself, and we measured the whole effect across six content types on consumer hardware (one RTX 3060), which is exactly the hardware where this trick matters most. We also report an honest negative result: the live auto-tuner didn't beat a simple fixed setting, and we explain why. The project includes a full interactive website with a live demo, an animated explainer, and a results dashboard, all reading real measured data — not typed-in numbers.
