Developers often make small code changes without being able to clearly understand their downstream impact. A change that appears simple can affect dependent components, tests, services, and release readiness. Manually tracing these dependencies takes time and can lead to missed risks. DevPulse is an AI-powered developer tool designed to help developers understand the impact of code changes before they move toward release. It provides a visual workflow that connects code mapping, change simulation, impact analysis, risk assessment, recommended testing, and release readiness in one place. The target users are software developers, engineering teams, and teams responsible for maintaining and releasing applications. In the DevPulse demo, users explore an example Acme Payment Service. They can view the service structure and its code/dependency relationships through a Code Map. The Change Simulator then allows a developer to propose a change, such as increasing a payment timeout from 30 seconds to 60 seconds. DevPulse analyzes the proposed change and presents affected areas, potential risk, recommended tests, and release-readiness information. The core idea is to turn a proposed code change into an understandable decision workflow: Change → Impact → Risk → Tests → Release Readiness. Instead of forcing developers to manually connect these steps, DevPulse brings them together into a single developer-focused interface. What makes DevPulse unique is its focus on the reasoning path around a code change rather than simply displaying code or generating code. It helps developers ask an important question before release: “What could this change affect, and what should I verify?” The prototype demonstrates this workflow through an interactive developer dashboard and simulated impact-analysis results. The displayed health, risk, and test values are demo values used to communicate the workflow and should not be interpreted as production measurements. DevPulse aims to make code-change impact easier to understand, reduce overlooked dependencies, and help developers approach testing and release decisions with greater context.
