Over 65% of enterprise Java workloads remain locked to Java 8 or 11 due to the immense cost, risk, and time of manual upgrades, leaving production systems exposed to unpatched vulnerabilities like Log4Shell. LegacyX eliminates this toil by providing an autonomous governance sidecar that modernizes repositories in minutes rather than months. A user inputs any Git URL into the web dashboard to trigger an automated 11-stage pipeline that provisions an isolated sandbox, parses AST and POM files, checks live CVE databases, and calculates a 0–100 Pre-Flight Modernization Risk Score across four key debt dimensions before touching any code. Three parallel AI subagents then refactor package namespaces (javax.* to jakarta.*), upgrade dependencies to Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.3.4, and convert test suites to JUnit 5. After displaying transformations in a Monaco diff viewer, an automated build-and-test loop verifies application stability before dispatching an interactive Slack audit card via IBM watsonx Orchestrate for one-click PR approvals. In benchmark runs, LegacyX boosted codebase health scores from 24 to 98/100, resolved all CVEs, and passed all tests in under two minutes, slashing migration time by over 97%.
