ChangeGuard is a web-based code change risk assessment platform designed to help software developers identify potential risks and issues before releasing software. In modern software development, frequent code modifications can introduce bugs, security vulnerabilities, unexpected impacts on other components, and insufficient test coverage. Manual code reviews and testing can be time-consuming, making it difficult to identify all potential issues before deployment. ChangeGuard addresses these challenges by integrating with GitHub repositories to retrieve commits, analyze code changes, and present findings through a centralized, interactive dashboard. Developers can select specific commits and assess modified files and functions using multiple analysis capabilities, including code review, security analysis, change impact assessment, and test gap identification. The platform provides an overview of affected components, detected code issues, potential security concerns, and areas requiring additional testing. It also offers generated test templates for supported uncovered functions and displays test execution results and output. For security, execution of untrusted remote repository code is restricted on the backend. Built using React, Vite, Python, and FastAPI, ChangeGuard follows a frontend-backend architecture and integrates with the GitHub API. Its frontend is deployed on Vercel, while the backend is hosted on Render. The primary objective of ChangeGuard is to simplify pre-release code assessment by bringing essential code analysis and testing support into one platform. It helps developers understand the potential impact of modifications, prioritize further investigation, and make informed decisions before integrating or releasing software. Future enhancements include secure sandbox-based test execution, expanded programming language support, advanced test generation, deeper dependency analysis, and CI/CD integration.
