Release Readiness Agent
Every dev team has a mental checklist before shipping code e.g. did the tests pass, is the changelog updated, did someone leave a TODO in there they forgot about, are database migrations actually reviewed etc. The problem is that checklist lives in people's heads, not in the codebase. Under deadline pressure, steps get skipped. Nobody catches it until it is already in production and by then it is a customer facing bug instead of a two minute fix. I built "Release Readiness Agent" to solve this by making the checklist part of the tooling itself instead of a separate document nobody opens. You write your team's rules once in plain English in a markdown file called RELEASE_CHECKLIST.md. The tool loads that file and runs every check against your branch at the same time using a thread pool, not one after another. That matters once a team has a dozen rules and does not want a slow sequential scan. It gives back a clean report showing what passed, what failed and exactly why. That last part is what makes this actually useful instead of just another linter nobody reads. If the changelog check fails it tells you specifically that CHANGELOG.md was not modified on this branch. If the TODO check fails it shows you the exact file and line number where the leftover comment lives. There is no ambiguity and no digging required. The people who benefit most are development teams who already have an informal release process but no real way to enforce it. Junior developers get the rules made explicit instead of learning them the hard way. Senior developers and team leads stop having to manually check basic hygiene on every pull request. The tool runs as a simple command line call. So it fits into workflows people already use. That could be a pre merge check, a step in CI or something a developer just runs themselves before opening a PR. What makes it creative is how easy it is to extend without touching the core system. Adding a new rule means adding one line to the checklist file and dropping a small Python function into the checks folder with a simple run function that takes a repo path. The runner finds and executes it automatically. A team's standards can grow over time without anyone needing to understand or change the underlying tool. To prove this actually works end to end I built a small sample project with two real deliberate problems. A leftover TODO comment inside a function and a missing changelog entry. Running the tool against it correctly failed two of four checks with clear explanations for both. After fixing them, actually implementing the logic the TODO was describing and properly documenting the change, the same project passed cleanly at four out of four with a final verdict of ready to release. That is the whole point. Take something optional, informal and easy to forget and turn it into something automatic and impossible to accidentally skip without adding friction to how developers already work.
