Kairos (καιρός) is a governed autonomous options-trading agent built on the Alpaca paper trading platform. It analyzes market and volatility conditions, including IV, RV, IV rank, and volatility regimes, then uses LLM reasoning to construct structured options strategies such as protective puts, covered calls, collars, and vertical spreads. Before any proposed trade can reach the market, Kairos passes it through a deterministic Risk Officer with no LLM involvement. The Risk Officer evaluates configured constraints including position delta, portfolio vega, position size, margin utilization, DTE, IV rank, and drawdown limits. Approved trades are executed through the required Alpaca MCP Server, then verified through fill-price slippage and Greeks reconciliation. Kairos records every decision—approved or rejected—with a plain-English rationale and provides a live dashboard for portfolio, strategies, risk controls, and audit history. The result is an autonomous trading system designed not only to act, but to operate within explicit, inspectable boundaries.
