Team Idea
Project Name: VoxNav
Problem: Visually impaired and motor-disabled users struggle with standard web interfaces built around clicks and typing. Screen readers help with reading, but true hands-free control is still missing.
Solution: VoxNav is a voice-controlled navigation assistant built on AssemblyAI. Users speak commands — "read my messages," "go to settings," "what time is it" — and the app transcribes speech in real time, matches it to an action, executes it, and responds back audibly.
How it works:
AssemblyAI's real-time transcription captures the spoken command.
An intent-matching layer maps the transcript to an action.
The app performs it and replies via text-to-speech.
Tech stack: React, AssemblyAI API, Node.js, Web Speech API.
Impact: Supports accessibility, a key but underused voice AI use case — showing how AssemblyAI can power intelligent, actionable experiences, in line with the hackathon's theme: "Turn speech into intelligent action."
