MediLens is an AI-powered healthcare application designed to make medical laboratory reports easier for everyday people to understand. Medical reports often contain complex terminology, unfamiliar test names, reference ranges, and numerical values that can be difficult to interpret without a medical background. MediLens addresses this gap by analyzing uploaded lab reports and presenting the information in a clearer, more accessible format. MediLens explains the different components present in a report, helps users understand whether values are within, above, or below the given reference ranges, and provides general information about what those results may mean. It can also provide diet and lifestyle-related guidance based on the information in the report and generate a set of questions that users can discuss with their healthcare professional. Accessibility is a major part of MediLens. Users can select their preferred language so that their lab-report analysis and explanations can be provided in a language they are more comfortable with. The application also includes features such as Myth Busters, which addresses common health misconceptions, and a Simple Medical Terms feature that explains complex medical terminology in everyday language. MediLens also includes a built-in AI chatbot where users can ask follow-up health-related questions and continue learning through a conversational interface. A key focus of MediLens is the use of authorized MBBS-level textbook sources as the foundation for its health information, rather than relying solely on random online information. This is intended to provide users with structured, educational information based on established medical knowledge. The project was developed with IBM Bob IDE, which was used to assist in development and particularly in implementing the application's multilingual functionality. Overall, MediLens aims to bridge the gap between complex medical information and everyday understanding by making healthcare information more accessible, understandable, and useful through AI and data-driven technology. It is intended as an educational and informational tool and does not replace professional medical advice or diagnosis.
