ReForge: Autonomous Repository Migration Workbench

Problem Statement: Software code migrations—such as moving a legacy Flask codebase to FastAPI—are traditionally some of the most expensive, high-risk, and tedious projects engineering teams undertake. Teams can spend weeks manually rewriting code, risking silent breakages in customer-facing APIs, unexpected downtime, and inconsistent error semantics. Solution & Architecture: ReForge is an Autonomous Repository Migration Workbench designed to solve this by turning an error-prone manual rewrite into a controlled, automated pipeline that executes in minutes. Instead of relying on traditional code-completion tools that "guess," ReForge reads the entire repository first—analyzing every route, model, and dependency to build a complete system picture before touching a single file. Target Users & Interaction: Backend developers, DevOps engineers, and technical leads interacting with ReForge via an intuitive Streamlit interface and integrated AI agent workflow. Users review generated "Migration Contracts" that lock in non-negotiable invariants (such as API routes, database schemas, and response formats) before any refactoring begins. Uniqueness & Efficiency: What makes ReForge unique is its governed, evidence-backed modernization approach. It executes migrations phase-by-phase (data layer, routes, application entry point, and tests), checkpointing work with automated test runs after every single phase. If architectural decisions are ambiguous, it flags them for human review rather than guessing, ensuring zero risky code ever ships without a second set of eyes and providing a full paper trail for compliance
