Bob's Release Pilot

Created by team Release Pilot on September 25, 2026

Every 40 seconds, a software team pushes a release that breaks production. Not because of bad code — but because no tool answers the critical pre-deployment question: Is this release actually safe to ship? The scale is concrete. Gartner reports average IT downtime costs $5,600 per minute. GitHub's 2026 Octoverse shows 42% of enterprise commits are now AI-assisted, yet almost none carry structured release safety metadata. SOC2 Type II audits explicitly require documented pre-release risk assessment. ITIL 4 Change Management mandates formal change authorization records before every production deployment. ISO 27001 requires audit trails of all information system changes. Yet most engineering teams have no automated way to generate this evidence. The existing toolchain is fragmented. Code review tools analyze individual pull requests in isolation. CI/CD pipelines run test suites but cannot reason about cross-file dependency breakage. Static analysis flags code quality but ignores compliance. The result is a dangerous gap between "tests passed" and "safe to ship." Bob's Release Pilot fills this gap with a weighted composite scoring model across four specialized analysis dimensions, each powered by a dedicated TypeScript engine performing heuristic static analysis of git diff payloads, commit message semantic parsing, and file dependency graph traversal against the GitHub and GitLab REST APIs. Breaking Change Detection carries 35% of the score. It performs multi-signal analysis: scanning commit messages for BREAKING CHANGE conventional commit markers, cross-referencing deleted files against import patterns in the remaining codebase, detecting removed TypeScript and JavaScript exports, flagging major version bumps in package.json, and surfacing renamed files that break existing import paths. Each finding is classified CRITICAL, HIGH, or MEDIUM with exact file paths and downstream impact explanation. Test Coverage Gap analysis carries 25%. It cross-references every modified source file against corresponding test files across JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, and Ruby ecosystems — mapping src/components/Button.tsx to tests/components/Button.test.tsx and flagging gaps by category: API routes, business logic, UI components, utilities, and hooks. SOC2 and ITIL Compliance carries 30% and elevates this from a developer tool to an enterprise release governance platform. Ten automated checks map directly to SOC2 Type II control requirements and ITIL 4 Change Management process requirements. SOC2 checks include credential and secret pattern detection across diff additions using regex matching against 47 known secret patterns, environment variable documentation verification, and dependency lock file validation. ITIL checks include release notes verification, database migration reversibility assessment, infrastructure change tracking, and technical debt marker analysis. Each check returns PASS, WARNING, FAIL, or N/A with specific evidence usable directly as SOC2 audit documentation. Commit Quality carries the remaining 10%, evaluating Conventional Commits specification adherence and documentation-to-code change ratios. The final Safety Score from 0 to 100 delivers a SAFE above 75, CAUTION between 50 and 75, or UNSAFE below 50 verdict in under 30 seconds. No existing tool combines breaking change detection, test gap analysis, and enterprise compliance into one unified release safety score. The entire application — 21 production TypeScript files across six analysis engines, six React dashboard components, one Next.js API orchestration route, and a complete shared type system — was designed, architected, coded, debugged, and validated entirely by IBM Bob 2.0 in a single agent session using Agent mode and parallel task execution. Zero human lines of production code were written.

Quarantine

An AI agent that writes and runs real code in throwaway gVisor sandboxes on Vultr: no network, no secrets, hard caps, destroyed after each run. Every run ends with a signed containment receipt proving what the code could and couldn't touch.

SLATE: Receipts for Every Agent Action

SLATE is a browser agent that works inside a throwaway microVM on Vultr. Every step is checked by a second model, hash-chained and signed with Ed25519, and a person approves the final action. If it is not on the slate, it did not happen.
