Runtime Minds – AI Code Intelligence with IBM BOB

Problem & Solution Statement Developers working with large or unfamiliar repositories often struggle to understand code structure, identify bugs, predict the impact of changes, and maintain code quality. Manually reading files and tracing dependencies is time-consuming and can lead to missed issues and unexpected regressions. Runtime Minds, built with IBM BOB, is an AI-powered developer workflow assistant that transforms a software repository into an interactive engineering map. It helps developers Understand → Detect → Impact → Fix → Verify code changes through one unified workflow. Users can provide a GitHub repository or upload a project as a ZIP file. Runtime Minds analyzes the repository structure, files, functions, classes, dependencies, and relationships and represents them through an interactive graph. Bug2Fix identifies potential bugs, traces their root causes, identifies affected files, suggests fixes, and verifies changes through regression testing. Blast Radius analyzes the potential impact of modifying a component by tracing dependencies, downstream callers, connected components, and relevant tests. RepoDoctor evaluates repository health by identifying issues related to code quality, testing, dependencies, documentation, maintainability, security, coverage, and complexity, and provides actionable recommendations. The target users are software developers, students, engineering teams, and developers working with unfamiliar or complex codebases. The creative aspect of Runtime Minds is its combination of repository visualization, AI-assisted root-cause analysis, change-impact analysis, automated fix suggestions, and repository health assessment in a single workflow. IBM BOB played an important role in helping our team develop and refine these capabilities efficiently.
