## Problem Debugging is an essential part of software development, but understanding programming errors can be difficult and time-consuming. Developers, especially students and beginners, often receive technical error messages without knowing what caused the problem, how to fix it, or how to verify that the fix works. Finding answers can require searching documentation, forums, and multiple sources. ## Solution DevFix AI is an AI-powered debugging assistant designed to make this process faster and easier. Users can paste their code, an error message, or a description of a programming problem, select the programming language, and ask DevFix AI to analyze it. The React frontend sends the request to a Node.js/Express backend. The backend uses Google Gemini through the `@google/genai` package and the configured `gemini-3.5-flash-lite` model to analyze the submitted code and generate a structured debugging response. The response includes: * The identified problem or error * The likely cause * A clear explanation * A suggested fix * Corrected code * Testing suggestions * Practical test cases Users can also copy the generated corrected code directly from the interface. ## Target Users DevFix AI is designed for developers, programming students, beginners learning software development, and anyone who wants a clearer explanation of coding errors. ## User Interaction The user opens the web application, selects a programming language, and enters code or an error. After clicking "Analyze with AI", DevFix AI processes the request and displays the debugging report in an organized interface. The application currently supports JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Python, Java, C++, Go, Rust, and SQL. ## Creative and Unique Aspect Instead of providing only a code replacement, DevFix AI combines error identification, explanation, suggested fixes, corrected code, and testing guidance into one debugging workflow. This helps users understand both what is wrong and why the solution works. ## Technology The frontend is built with React and Vite. The backend uses Node.js and Express.js. Google Gemini provides the AI-powered code analysis through the `@google/genai` package. The application is deployed on Render, with the frontend and backend hosted separately. ## Impact DevFix AI aims to reduce the time developers spend understanding common programming problems while making debugging explanations more accessible to learners. By combining analysis and testing guidance in a single interface, it provides a practical workflow for turning coding errors into understandable and actionable fixes.
