Astra is a voice-first AI agent orchestration system designed to turn natural human requests into actionable multi-step workflows. Instead of simply generating a response, Astra understands the user's intent, plans the task, selects the appropriate agents and tools, executes the workflow, and combines the results into a clear final response. The system integrates AssemblyAI for real-time speech-to-text, allowing users to interact with the AI naturally through voice. The orchestrator can route tasks to specialized capabilities such as research, coding, reasoning, data processing, and other tools. It maintains the workflow between the user, orchestrator, agents, and AI providers, while the frontend presents the result in a structured and user-friendly interface. Astra is built around the idea that an AI assistant should act more like an intelligent coordinator than a simple chatbot. Its architecture separates planning, orchestration, agent execution, tool usage, memory, response generation, and voice processing, making the system extensible for future agents and capabilities. The goal is to provide a practical interface where users can simply speak or type what they want, while Astra handles the underlying complexity of planning and executing the task.
