Most voice assistants are polite, deferential, and slow. If you ramble, stumble on filler words, or pitch a flawed business model, standard voice AI will still tell you "That's a great idea!" Real life isn't like that. In a pitch meeting, a salary negotiation, or a debate, people interrupt, push back, and expose weak logic the moment they hear it. We built Miles to recreate that real-world pressure. It's an adversarial, full-duplex voice sparring partner that tests your composure, cadence, and arguments in real time. Instead of waiting patiently through long monologues, Miles actively spars with you. It features distinct personas tailored for high-stakes scenarios: Marcus Vance, a skeptical Tier-1 VC who grills unit economics; Elena Rostova, a hardball VP of Talent holding the line on compensation; DA Carter, a prosecutor probing contradictions; and an open contrarian engine that takes the opposing stance on any topic you throw at it. To feel authentic, the conversation has to happen at the speed of real speech. We built the audio pipeline on AssemblyAI's streaming STT and Rime's Coda neural TTS. We tackled the hardest part of voice interactions—full-duplex interruption dynamics. When you interrupt Miles, audio playback and state cancel within milliseconds so you can speak freely. But if you stall, trail off, or pack your sentences with "um" and "like," Miles interrupts you first with a direct counter-challenge. Once the sparring round wraps up, an evaluation engine analyzes your transcript. Rather than giving generic praise, it quotes your exact answers, points out logical missteps, tracks filler words, and calculates your speaking pace. You get immediate, tactical feedback on where you hesitated and how to defend your position next time.
