**DevOnboard AI** is an agentic AI-powered developer onboarding assistant that helps new developers understand and start working on an unfamiliar software project faster. The platform uses specialized AI agents for onboarding guidance, documentation discovery, codebase understanding, project setup, and troubleshooting. An intelligent router identifies the user's intent and directs each question to the appropriate agent. The system then uses project knowledge, onboarding tasks, and relevant documentation to generate contextual answers with sources and actionable next steps. Key capabilities include personalized onboarding tasks, progress tracking, AI-powered project and documentation guidance, setup assistance, troubleshooting support, knowledge retrieval, and a local fallback assistant that keeps the prototype functional without an external AI API. IBM Bob 2.0 was used as the AI development partner for planning, coding, testing, code review, and project documentation, while GitHub provides version control and collaboration. The goal of DevOnboard AI is to reduce onboarding time, eliminate confusion around unfamiliar repositories, and help developers move from joining a project to making their first contribution more efficiently.
