Tourist Translator AI is a lightweight, browser-based two-way voice translation app built for instant face-to-face communication between tourists and locals without app downloads or setups. Key Highlights: Core Functionality: Converts speech between English and local languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German) in real time, displaying readable translations on screen for both speakers. Tech Stack: Built with Python using Streamlit for frontend hosting, AssemblyAI for speech-to-text, and a Python translation API. Deployed for free via Streamlit Community Cloud. Target Audience: Travelers needing quick, hands-free interactions with shopkeepers, hotel staff, or locals without language barriers. Roadmap & Future Improvements: Upgrade to a decoupled FastAPI/WebSocket backend for streaming, continuous translation. Expand supported languages beyond Europe.
