Big companies give their leaders a chief of staff. Someone who walks in and says: three things need you today. I run Hyperdrift alone: a small fleet of live apps, and agents that work on them. What I had was a dashboard. It waits to be read. So I asked for a person. My brief on 3 September: "a real person that reports to you and asks you to act on primary goals… so we don't even need to use the UI." That is the First Officer. It speaks first: here is what needs you, which one? Talk over it and it stops. In the film, one ship is down. "Bring it back." An agent restores it, the officer checks the ship twice from outside, then reports without being asked. 12.7 seconds from the first word, and nobody touched the screen. AssemblyAI made it a conversation. Universal-3.6 Pro Realtime hears; it went in on the day it was released. The Voice Agent API speaks. Between the two, the officer is its own model: every line comes from decisions my fleet has already recorded, so an answer starts less than a second after you stop talking. Anyone who runs autonomous agents needs someone who reports to them. I was the first. In the film the captain's voice is generated. Every answer is live. The Bridge existed before September; the voice layer was built inside the hackathon window. Try it with the link in this entry. The code is open, MIT: github.com/hyperdrift-io/bridge-voice
