Relay: Voice Operations for Field Work

Field technicians often work around moving equipment, safety hazards, protective gear, and time pressure. Their hands and eyes are needed on the job, yet reporting a single incident can require navigating several disconnected systems. Most voice tools only transcribe what was said or complete one simple action. Relay turns one spoken field report into verified operational work. A technician can describe an issue naturally, such as a cooling control failure on asset H21. Relay uses an AssemblyAI Voice Agent session to understand the incident, inspect the asset history, check parts inventory, create a work order, and notify the appropriate supervisor. The key difference is Relay Recovery. When a connected operation fails, Relay does not hide the error or pretend the workflow succeeded. It changes the execution plan. In the H21 demonstration, the required fuse is unavailable in local inventory. Relay searches an alternate location, finds the part at Central Stores, arranges a transfer, creates a work order that waits for the transfer, and notifies Priya Shah. The failed local inventory step remains visible alongside the verified recovery route. Relay is built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, a live AssemblyAI Voice Agent WebSocket, typed server operations, and optional Supabase persistence. A single orchestration tool coordinates asset history, inventory, transfers, work orders, and supervisor notifications. Relay is not a voice form filler. It is a voice operations agent that executes work, handles exceptions, and proves every outcome. Speak once. Keep moving.
