Voice Guardian: your voice is the fastest way to call for help The problem Tumani connects professional drivers across Malawi for trips, parcel delivery, and errands. Many drive alone on unfamiliar roads. When a vehicle breaks down, they can be stranded with no fast way to get help, and typing on a phone while stressed or in the dark isn't realistic. The solution Voice Guardian adds a voice-powered safety layer to Tumani, built on AssemblyAI speech-to-text. A driver with a breakdown just speaks what's wrong. The message is transcribed and an alert with the issue and the driver's location goes to mechanics. No typing needed. An SOS flow for serious situations like accidents is designed next: calm, guided voice questions, location confirmation, and a structured distress alert. How it works 1. The driver speaks their problem. 2. AssemblyAI transcribes it. 3. The app adds the driver's location. 4. The alert appears for mechanics, who can claim the job. Built with AssemblyAI, Next.js, Supabase, Vercel Why it matters Malawi's roads mean long distances, little help nearby, and patchy connectivity. Voice Guardian gives drivers a hands-free way to ask for help when every minute counts, and gives mechanics a direct way to reach them. What's next Mechanic sign-up and profiles, alerts to other drivers on the same road, SMS fallback for weak signal, the guided SOS flow, and local languages such as Chichewa.
