What-IF

Problem: Understanding a complex codebase usually takes hours of digging through folders and reading technical files. Onboarding a new developer onto a project can take days, while explaining technical architecture to product managers or clients often leads to confusion. Solution: What-IF solves this by translating complex GitHub repositories into simple, real-world analogies and visual system maps. Target Users: - Developers onboarding onto unfamiliar repositories. - Students and junior engineers learning software design patterns. - Product managers and non-technical stakeholders who need to grasp technical setups quickly. How Users Interact With It: 1. The user pastes any public GitHub repository link. 2. What-IF scans the repository structure, dependencies, and code files. 3. The app generates interactive visual breakdowns alongside custom analogies. For example, it can explain a microservice backend as a busy restaurant kitchen where the API acts as the waiter and the database acts as the pantry. What Makes It Unique: Traditional tools give you dry dependency charts or wall-of-text documentation. What-IF uses relatable real-world analogies alongside interactive visual nodes. It turns abstract code logic into familiar physical systems that anyone can grasp right away. Impact and Metrics: - Cuts codebase comprehension time from 2 hours down to under 2 minutes (a 98% reduction in initial reading time). - Eliminates onboarding friction for team projects, making code reviews and technical communication far more efficient.
