"CivicLens AI is an AI-powered civic issue reporting platform designed to make reporting public infrastructure problems faster, simpler, and more reliable. Traditional civic issue reporting often requires citizens to manually identify the problem, describe it in detail, determine which department is responsible, and submit the complaint through a complicated process. This can discourage people from reporting smaller issues and can also result in incomplete or incorrectly categorized reports. CivicLens AI addresses this problem by allowing users to simply capture or upload a photograph of a suspected civic issue and let AI transform the image into a structured report. The core workflow of CivicLens AI is intentionally simple. A citizen starts by selecting the “Report an Issue” option and uploading a photograph. The user then provides the location of the issue by selecting a point on the map. The uploaded image is analyzed using the Gemini 2.5 Flash multimodal AI model. Instead of only identifying objects in the image, the system evaluates whether the image actually represents a civic issue that may require public intervention. When an issue is detected, CivicLens AI categorizes the problem, estimates its severity, identifies the relevant department, generates a suitable title, provides an explanation of what was detected, and produces a confidence score. This converts an ordinary photograph into structured and actionable information that can be used for civic reporting. An important feature of CivicLens AI is that it does not assume every uploaded image is a civic problem. The AI can recognize situations where no civic issue is present. For example, if a photograph shows a streetlight that is functioning normally, the system can identify that there is no issue and return a “No Issue Detected” result with “No Action Required.” This helps prevent unnecessary or false reports from entering the system.
