I have built a custom port scanner in pure Python, designed to identify open network ports on target systems. Firstly, by using Python’s built‑in socket library, our script connects to specified port ranges, testing each one to detect active services. This will validated IP addresses, handled both single and range‑based port checks, and included clear input prompts plus error handling to skip unresponsive targets. And it is developed and tested within our Kali‑on‑WSL terminal environment, it’s lightweight, dependency‑free, and fully functional alongside a practical foundational cybersecurity tool built entirely from scratch.
