Flag Buster is an autonomous developer agent built on IBM Bob that systematically eliminates technical debt by identifying stale feature flags, stripping unreachable conditional branches, and purging orphan code across software repositories—safely and automatically. The Problem Codebases rapidly accumulate legacy feature flags and abandoned code paths. Developers hesitate to manually delete them out of fear of breaking hidden dependencies, leading to bloated codebases, longer build times, and increased cognitive overhead. How It Works Deterministic Scanning: Uses lightweight local commands (ripgrep) inside IBM Bob Workflows to trace flag definitions and references across the repository with zero token overhead. AI Sub-Agent Analysis: Assigns individual dead flags to isolated IBM Bob sub-agents to remove conditional logic, delete unused functions/imports, and verify code integrity. Automated Verification & PR: Executes the local test suite (npm test) to guarantee zero regressions, then opens a pull request with line-by-line deletion rationales.
