EdgeLock: Edge AI Fail-Safe Interlock System

The Reality at the Edge of Chemical Manufacturing SMEs at the outer edge of the supply chain face a tough barrier: strict explosion-proof standards (Zone 1/2) make automated robotics cost-prohibitive, forcing reliance on an aging workforce. Manually verifying dozens of identical raw material bags causes severe operator fatigue. A single mischarge ruins entire batches, resulting in dangerous reactions and costly hazardous waste. Rapid Explosion-Proof Retrofit with SiMA MLSoC Conventional AI accelerators consume excessive power and generate heat that cannot escape sealed enclosures without custom thermal engineering. The SiMA Dev Kit 3.0 solves this. With industry-leading TOPS/Watt efficiency, it operates fanless inside standard, off-the-shelf certified explosion-proof enclosures. Plants can rapidly retrofit legacy reactors with zero structural modification or downtime. Human-Centric Fail-Safe Interlock EdgeLock acts as an empathetic safety net for senior operators rather than replacing them. Deployed at the vessel inlet, its edge vision pipeline runs real-time on-device barcode scanning and OCR (<50ms latency) to cross-reference Lot numbers against active production BOMs. If an incorrect ingredient is scanned, a GPIO relay immediately locks the hopper hatch and sounds an alarm—preventing costly mistakes before they occur and letting operators work with confidence. End-to-End Plant Traceability Once validated, the gate unlocks and logs an immutable batch record, linking materials seamlessly from warehouse picking to final charging. EdgeLock demonstrates how low-power edge AI infrastructure can modernize legacy manufacturing while keeping human workers at the center of safety.
