DBVoyager — Agentic Database Administrator

## Problem & Solution Statement Modern applications depend on PostgreSQL databases, but monitoring and optimizing them often requires expensive DBA expertise and time-consuming manual investigation. Small teams may discover slow queries, locking, index bloat, connection saturation, or other performance issues only after they affect customers. At the same time, business users often depend on engineers to answer basic data questions because database insights are difficult to access safely. DBVoyager addresses this challenge as an AI-powered database administration and business intelligence platform. Users connect a PostgreSQL database through a secure web dashboard, after which DBVoyager continuously inspects database health, schema metadata, query performance, locks, indexes, and other operational signals. It identifies issues, assigns severity scores, produces plain-English summaries, and recommends practical actions. The platform also enables users to ask business questions in natural language, such as which product category generated the most revenue. A specialized multi-agent workflow plans the investigation, generates schema-aware SQL, validates that the query is read-only, executes a limited sample, analyzes the results, and generates charts and insights. This lets technical and non-technical users explore data without manually writing complex SQL. DBVoyager is designed for startups, development teams, data analysts, product managers, and organizations that use PostgreSQL but do not have a dedicated DBA available around the clock. Engineers can use the optimizer and schema explorer to investigate technical issues, while managers and business users can review health summaries, KPIs, reports, and visual insights through the React dashboard. Its creativity comes from combining autonomous database operations, query optimization, natural-language analytics, and automatic KPI discovery in one platform. Rather than relying on a single general-purpose chatbot, DBVoyager uses specialized AI agents for health monitoring, executive reporting, SQL generation, validation, analysis, chart creation, and KPI discovery. It also prioritizes safety: database credentials are encrypted, connections are user-scoped, generated SQL is validated, and read-only behavior is enforced by default. By automating repetitive inspection and investigation tasks, DBVoyager reduces the time needed to detect problems, understand their impact, and decide what to do next. Its FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL inspectors, background workers, Redis caching, and React dashboard work together to provide continuous monitoring and near-real-time feedback while keeping humans in control of production changes.
