ByteSized: Engineering Suite for IBM Bob IDE

ByteSized: Developer & Hardware Engineering Suite for IBM Bob IDE ByteSized is a unified 3-extension engineering platform built natively inside IBM Bob IDE, supported by a local FastAPI backend and WebSocket collaboration hub. It bridges multi-language code security, silicon hardware design, and architecture visualization into a single zero-latency workflow. 1. The Problem Modern teams face fragmented tools: hardware engineers writing Verilog RTL and software developers writing C++, Python, or TypeScript operate in silos. High-severity bugs—like transparent hardware latches and C/C++ memory buffer overflows (CWE-120/242)—slip past standard linters. Meanwhile, complex monorepos lack architectural visibility, and enterprise IP policies forbid sending proprietary code to third-party cloud LLM APIs. 2. The 3 Integrated Extensions SiliconBob (Dev 1): Universal, air-gapped code optimizer. Analyzes 8 languages (Verilog, C/C++, Python, JS/TS, Java, Go, Rust) in under 50ms with zero cloud APIs. Detects race conditions, latches, and buffer overflows. Features in-editor diagnostics squiggles, split-screen diff comparison (vscode.diff), and 1-click in-place auto-refactoring. BlueprintBob (Dev 3): Workspace architecture visualizer. Scans repository manifests and ASTs to render interactive, pan/zoom Mermaid.js dependency diagrams directly inside Bob IDE. Operates 100% offline or with optional AI insights. Microchip & PCB Studio (Dev 2): Visual electronic design studio. Features an interactive canvas to drag, drop, and interconnect logic blocks (ALUs, MCUs, SRAM, PLL clocks) and export hardware netlists. 3. Real-Time Collaboration & IBM Bob 2.0 ByteSized includes live WebSocket rooms (/ws/{room_id}) for multi-engineer reviews. Built entirely using IBM Bob 2.0 Plan and Agent modes—which accelerated architectural scaffolding, AST parser synthesis, and VSIX packaging—ByteSized includes 59 passing tests, a cycle-accurate simulator, and complete session logs in bob_sessions/.
