ElderEase AI is a gentle AI companion designed to make everyday emotional check-ins simpler and more comfortable for older adults. Many elderly people may experience loneliness, sadness, tiredness, or difficult emotions, but expressing those feelings is not always easy. ElderEase AI provides a simple, low-pressure space where a person can check in with their mood and share their feelings in their own words. The experience follows a simple flow: Talk → Understand → Support → Suggest → Remember. Users can first record how they feel using a simple mood selector. They can then write a few words or sentences describing their feelings. ElderEase identifies the emotional state, responds with a compassionate and personalized message that reflects what the user shared, and provides a simple activity suggestion appropriate to the detected mood. ElderEase also maintains recent conversations and a mood diary during the session. Its mood-trend feature can recognize whether recent check-ins are moving in a more positive or difficult direction, while avoiding medical diagnosis or mental-health claims. Safety is an important part of the experience. ElderEase includes a distress-detection layer for concerning phrases and directs users toward trusted human support and India's Tele-MANAS service when appropriate. The application clearly states that it is not a medical, therapy, or emergency service. The target users are elderly individuals who want a simple way to express their feelings and reflect on their everyday wellbeing. The concept can also be extended toward families and senior-care communities. What makes ElderEase AI distinctive is its elderly-first simplicity. Instead of overwhelming users with complex interfaces, accounts, dashboards, or unnecessary features, it focuses on one meaningful interaction: helping someone express how they feel and take a small positive next step. ElderEase was developed as a focused working prototype using Python and Streamlit, with a transparent and dependency-light rule-based emotional understanding approach. The final project was extensively tested, documented, and refined with IBM Bob 2.0 throughout the development workflow.
