People sign leases, job offers, loans and rental agreements every day without a lawyer. A legal review costs hundreds of dollars, so most people sign without one. The clauses that hurt them are the ones they can't recognize: five days of vacation when the law requires two weeks, a waiver of overtime pay, a termination clause that gives less notice than the law allows. NotALawyer reviews the contract for them. Upload a PDF and Auto scan reads the whole document. It lists the risky clauses ranked by risk, and for each one explains what it means, what to ask for instead, and which law it runs into. You can also: select any passage to check it on its own; highlight passages and add your own notes; ask the chat questions like "Can they fire me without notice?" It answers from the contract, cites the law, and can create, rename and scan highlights for you. Every citation opens the exact section on Justice Laws or Ontario's e-Laws, not just the law's front page. Under the hood, Gemma-4-31B-IT on AMD Token Factory does the reading and reasoning: For each concern, the model writes a search query for the legal rule behind it. The query runs against a pgvector database of 107,600 sections of Canadian law: federal Acts and regulations, plus the Ontario laws behind everyday contracts (Employment Standards Act, Residential Tenancies Act, Consumer Protection Act and more). The model reviews each clause against the sections it retrieved and may cite only those. The backend drops anything else, so every citation points to real law in the database. Other provinces aren't loaded yet. For their contracts, the app says the province's law should be checked. NotALawyer gives information, not legal advice. It helps you know what to ask before you sign.
