Coop Call: the chicken coop that calls you
Coop Call gives a chicken coop a voice. It is the first place built on Ziso (Shona for eye), where any place gets a camera, a memory and a phone line. An old Android phone, or any IP camera through a small RTSP bridge, watches a broiler house. Gemini reads each frame into a structured observation: bird count, how the flock is spread, panting, feeder and drinker levels, and anything unusual. Readings fold into an hourly timeline, each hour compared with the same hour on earlier days. Call the coop from the browser and an AssemblyAI Voice Agent API session answers for it. The agent works through twelve JSON-schema tools over the timeline and a broiler business model: growth against the Cobb500 curve, feed today and on hand, the last two weeks that eat about two thirds of a batch's feed, a margin for every sell day, vaccines and feed switches. Every picture it describes appears on screen as evidence. Spoken records ("I bought ten bags of finisher") are read back and booked after a yes. When something goes wrong, the coop calls you. A bird down, a dry drinker, heat or cold raises an alarm that rings the owner like a phone call through Web Push, then the whole team, until someone answers. The call opens with the alarm and the picture from that moment, and the alarm closes itself once the camera sees the house clear. Records are optional: with no setup, the coop estimates flock size and age from the camera. Built for smallholder broiler farmers in Zimbabwe and South Africa, on hardware they already own.
