I built FlightDeck Alpha because letting an AI agent trade options without strict guardrails is basically asking to blow up your account. I wanted to build something that is fully autonomous but heavily restricted by deterministic risk gates, so you don't have to babysit it all day. Basically, the agent wakes up on a schedule, scans the market for highly liquid symbols, and uses Gemini to analyze the setups. If it spots a good opportunity, it proposes a defined-risk trade, like a debit spread. But before anything actually executes, the backend runs the proposal through 12 strict risk gates checking things like max daily loss, total premium deployed, and existing exposure. If it passes, it gets executed on Alpaca's paper trading API. For the stack, I hosted the frontend on Vercel so the React SPA is blazing fast, while the backend runs on Render with FastAPI. I also built a Cockpit UI where you can literally replay the agent's thought process step-by-step through a persistent audit log, so you never have to guess why it took a trade. I even wired up the new Alpaca CLI to prove execution directly in the logs. It's built to run completely on its own, but you can always hit the kill switch in the settings if you need to.
